It is commonly believed that God, the Son and, the Holy Ghost are one God but three divine
entities, also known as the Trinity. The word Trinity, however, is not found in the Bible. What does the Bible say? What do we know about God?
There is one God and you shall have no other gods besides him (Ex 20:3). God is spirit (John 4:24). The spiritual domain came into being when God spoke and the spirit went out of his mouth (Psalm 33:6). The spiritual world includes God and his angles, Satan and his demons and,
our spirits.
Though God is one, he said in Gen 1:26-27: "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness". Note that the pronouns "us" and "our" are plural, indicting that God is a conglomerate of several distinct entities. The passage from Mt 28:19 indicates that they are at least three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:1-3). The word blesses those who obey the voice of the Lord and curses those who do not. As promised in the book of Isaiah (Isaiah 9:6), the word became flesh i.e., Jesus of Nazareth (Hebr. יהושע - Yahshuah). When Jesus was baptized, a voice from heaven said "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased" (Mt 3:17), confirming the prophecy of Isaiah. "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die." (John 11:25-26). "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6). This is because only Jesus has the authority to forgive our sins (Mt 9:1-7) and deliver us from demons. Jesus judges through his word (of God) (John 5:22-24). Jesus does not judge on his own but only as he hears from his Father (John 5:19, 30).
The Holy Spirit (Hebr. רוּחַ- rūaḥ, feminine) gives life into God's creations (Job 33:4). Also wisdom, understanding, counsil, might, knowledge and fear for the Lord come from her (Isaiah 11:2). The scripture says in Acts 20:28 that she had purchased all the flock with her own blood. The Holy Spirit has no blood unless she is the spirit of Jesus. In the believers of Christ (John 14:18), she manifests as wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing
of the sick, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits,
speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, etc. (1 Cor 12:7-11). Also the Holy Spirit can nothing do on her own unless she saw something the Father was doing (John 16:13).
We have seen that the living God comprises at least three entities: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who cannot operate independently from each other in contrast to what the commonly believed trinity concept says.
